FAQ - CONTEST

March 9, 2009 by brent · 1 Comment

How do I win?

By getting the most votes on your song and having a song that meets the proper criteria (see next question for proper criteria).  You need to get your fans to vote for your song by coming to this site, registering and then adding their vote to the section where your song will be posted.  Each fan can only vote for a song once.  If a fan wants to vote for more than one song (and cancel his or her vote out), they’re free to do so.  If there is a tie, the songs that tie will go into a 24 hour overtime where artists will have last chance to get more fans to vote — we will also do an email blast encouraging all of our customers to vote.  If there is still no clear winner, a coin toss will decide the outcome.

Where do I submit a song?

info (AT) greenroomprod.com  Submissions must be in mp3 format.

What is the criteria for the song?

It must be written by the artist performing the song, a member of the band or someone who will give written permission for the song to be used prior to submission of the song.  No cover songs are permitted.

How many songs can I submit?

Each artist or band can submit one song.

What is the deadline?

Deadline for submission of song is March 27 at 5:30 p.m.

Deadline for voting is April 10th.

Are there any grounds that would cause ones disqualification?
The song must be written by the artist or someone in the band.  The song must have the potential of being played on radio or TV — so the song cannot contain anything that breaks standard FCC rules.  Also read the next two question…

Can I vote for myself?

Yes, but only once.  If it is discovered that someone is getting creative in finding ways to vote for themselves more than once, they will be automatically disqualified.

Where will the video be shot?

The video will be shot in Dallas, Texas.  The winner will need to be in Dallas for the shoot and if he/she does not live in Dallas,  he/she will need to travel there at his or her own expense.

I manage several local bands and artists, am I allowed to submit music on their behalf?  If so, can I submit multiple artists?

Yes.  You will need to provide permission from the writer of the song that allows you to submit the song.
Who retains ownership of the final product, if a video is produced?
Green Room Productions will own the video and will be free to use it without restraint for promotion, but will give the band unrestrained rights to use it how they wish as long as it is not in a way that is harmful to Green Room.  Any royalties earned will be paid to the writer of the song and will not be managed by Green Room Productions but by standard agencies such as BMI and ASCAP.
Are there any ownership restraints on the source song?
The source song has to be written by someone in the band or someone willing to give royalty free rights to create a video with the song.  Cover songs won’t work.
Will the band-artist have final say on any edits or augmentations that may be required of the source song?
No
Who will retain ownership of the unedited footage?
Green Room
